READING: 2 Timothy 2: 19-26

Our passage today exposes a very important truth: the Lord knows those who belong to him. Every parent knows his or her children. This is because their DNA is found in their
offspring. In most cases, children behave as their earthly parents. Without doubt, God speaks clearly that He knows those that are his children. They have his divine DNA in them
and the blood of Jesus Christ in their veins speaks better things on their behalf. It is clear that God's children are expected to behave as their heavenly father. But God also gives a very timely warning to everyone, especially the Christians. He says that everyone who confesses the name of Jesus Christ must depart from iniquity. The passage also highlights the need for spiritual cleansing (vv. 20-21) in the lives of Christians.

In order to be a vessel of honour, the person has to be in a state of spiritual purity, always ready to be used by Christ for any good work. We must identify our weaknesses and determine to overcome them. We must avoid quarrels, be kind to people and gently teach those that oppose the gospel in the hope that they will repent and know the truth.
